I purchased a frame I liked several months ago because of its style, quality and price. It was for an unusual-sized painting - just 3 1/2" X 7". I knew one day there would be a subject that would lend itself to a long and narrow shape. As I'm usually chasing frames for an already completed painting, this was a fortunate find. My husband cut down a masonite panel and as you might guess it didn't take a long time to do. It was great fun to play with the texture and color aspects.

Really beautiful, Carol. You have so many lovely colors in your subject. I haven't learned how to do that yet, so that I find my paintings kind of boring. I guess I will learn how to "see" that eventually. I did learn how to keep my fruit from "floating". LOL.
ReplyDeleteVirginia, you're giving me more credit, I think, than I deserve. I'm always experimenting with which colors might work in a painting, and once in awhile they actually DO work. Sometimes though, "NO."
ReplyDeleteAND,I have enjoyed your paintings for quite awhile now, and I have NEVER thought of them in any way but admiration and delight. You are GREAT, and I admire how you are always exploring and trying different approaches. You ROCK, Virginia!
Carol, this is out of this world, I want to take a bite and let the juice run down my chin, this is a delight to the eye and it does look like you had fun.
ReplyDeleteJean, thank you. I'm smiling at your juice drip comment! I did, I did have fun!
DeleteThat is such a super format for those slices. And as usual, your color choices are spot on!:):):)
ReplyDeleteHey, if you found a deal on frames let me know please:)
I appreciate your comments, Libby. The "long and lean" format has me intrigued at the moment.
DeleteThe painting is beautifully composed. The vivid orange - blue color scheme works very well! I love the shape of canvas space divided by the oranges too.
ReplyDeleteYour kind words are very gracious, Arena. I feel like I've just had a pat on the back. I'm so glad you took the time to view my work.
ReplyDeleteThis painting is breath-taking, Carol! You've really moved toward the poetic and sublime . . . exactly where you've been wanting to go! Your color, texture and sense of light is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteYou have motivated me many times over, Lorraine, with your magnificent works - your subjects, techniques, textures, lighting and colors always set an awe-inspiring standard. Thank you!
DeleteI just LOVE the colors in this painting...so bold and bright, and orange together with dark blue is really a winner!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Jane. So nice to hear from you. When I think about color schemes it's amazing how often blue and orange get the nod. It just seems to work!
