When I was a young child my Mom would put these porcelain angels out every Christmas. I loved them! I'd keep rearranging them. I'm surprised they've survived this long. Now, I have them, and they bring back wonderful memories of family this time of year.
I have listed this painting as an auction on Daily Paintworks.
I really love the use of complementary colors here. The colors contrast well with each other. I love how the angels are glowing. Beautiful work.
ReplyDeleteLoved your painting and your post. One of my favorite parts of celebrating Christmas is bringing out the special decorations. I love the memories they evoke.
ReplyDeleteThey are really lovely! Almost like they are glowing or something. And how nice too that you have taken care of them for so long and are still able to enjoy them. Very special.
ReplyDeleteLove nostalgia, these are precious in the pose and the delicate rendering. The colors bestow the same feeling as the expressions of the angels. Thank you for sharing a bit of memories.
ReplyDeleteSuch wonderful memories, Carol!. You did a beautiful job with them...
ReplyDeleteThank you, Shelley, very much!! I'm glad you noticed the "glow," as I really tried to achieve that effect. :)
ReplyDeleteVirginia, I agree whole-heartedly! So many of my decorations are ones that my Mom had for her home. It adds another level of meaning to Christmas. Thanks for writing!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Libby. I do feel lucky that the angels are still here. It's been a long time through many travels!
ReplyDeleteI, too, Jean am a sentimentalist at heart. The lack of contrast on the figurines (being all white and mostly smooth) was a challenge for me! A good one, though.
ReplyDeleteHilda, thank you for your comments! It was a lot of fun to do!
