Speaking as a grandmother I am constantly reminded how fast time passes
as a child grows up. Admittedly, I think it's a wee bit
fast, but who am I to change the schedule of
another's life?
This is my oldest grandchild who honestly was only a little guy
recently. Now, he is past eleven and it won't be long before
the "teen" years, then young adulthood and
beyond.
We have enjoyed watching him grow and change and
become his own personality. What a joyful treat
it has been, and we feel so blessed to see his skills develop, his interactions
with others become apparent and his interests take hold.
I have not done many portraits before this, but I have been motivated recently
by the work of some of my blogging friends who
seem to have the skill of portraiture
well in hand.
Their work certainly gives me motivation and encouragement.
I think my next effort will be the younger
brother of this boy. I'm looking
forward to it.

ReplyDeleteThank you very much, Debbie. My husband and I took care of him when he was four months old for a time. We developed a strong bond which has carried over to this day. I'm working on younger brother right now.

ReplyDeleteYour kind words, Julie, mean a lot. Portraits are a relatively new area for me, and I'm looking forward to learning how to draw figures as well. Both grandsons love to draw and paint, so at times there are three of us busy at the table.

ReplyDeleteYou made me smile when you mentioned the hairdo. That's a style that he made for himself after wearing it brushed forward for a while. Also, I didn't want too white teeth (or eyes) because they seem to stand out. My early mentor told me to use a very light blue color over the white in certain places as blue makes great shadows toward the edges of the teeth.

ReplyDeleteOne thing I have noticed about certain sites is that, even though they have tons of content, the site looks great and the headlines are eye catching is that the material is simply filler. It’s downright unreadable. You can forget it 6 seconds after you read it. Not the case with your post though, really enjoyed it reading it and it held my attention all the way through!
