Close To Capacity 6" X 8" oil on panel
It's funny how some colors react when they're being photographed. I worked and worked to get the saturation as accurate as possible in this photo, but when you adjust one color it makes slight changes in the other colors. However, I feel it's very representative of how it actually appears.
What I enjoyed about this was deciding upon and applying several warm and cool greens. Green is very wide-ranging in its hues, and it's just fun to apply several of varying temperatures on one object. I also applied the tabletop colors with both brush and palette knife when I applied both beige and ochre for a mottled look.
Available at DailyPaintworks beginning Monday.
You really can see all those greens when you start looking. It's a lovely set of colors especially with the purplish shadows. Very nice texture too. Such a simple setup and great results as always:):):)
ReplyDeleteThank you, Libby. When I began I had no plans to put in the ochre-colored square. But, I decided it needed something to break up the space and add a bit more color. That's called adapting, right? I appreciate you commenting.
DeleteThese apples are amazing and good enough to eat! Fabulous colors and I love the texture you put into it. Wonderful work, my friend.!!!
ReplyDeleteHilda, thank you so much! It was a fun piece to do. I love playing with paint! I appreciate your comments.
DeleteSo happy to see a new post! This painting is so simple but has so much power—love all the color variety in your apples and the mottled texture and color of your tabletop. Beautiful result!
ReplyDeleteI've been remiss in not posting for awhile, and I apologize. Will try to get that creative bug into action on a more regular basis. Thank you for all the nice words!
DeleteI love the richness of this painting,Carol. Also like the way you did the analogous color harmony instead of the all too familiar red and green. You are excellent with using green the lShades of Green in pastel was really awesome. You are my Godess of GREEN!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Julie. Is that the same as being the "Jolly Green Goddess?" You make me smile!
DeleteI know what you mean about the frustrations of taking an accurate photo of ones work, I sometimes spend so much time editing and colour correcting and still not getting a perfect photo. I like the colours you have used for the apples and the interesting background too.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Diana. Your work all looks beautifully photographed. Your colors seem spot on to what I think they would be.
