"TAKING A BREAK" 6" X 6" Oil on cradled panel
Hummingbirds have always had a special place in my heart. They are fascinating creatures and can do so much for their size. A neighbor had a hummingbird build a nest in front of her window (thank you very much!) I couldn't believe how amazingly small, yet perfect it was. The bird laid two of the tiniest eggs you've ever seen, and when they hatched she was constantly busy feeding them. I guess all moms and dads can relate!

This is a wonderful painting - so much color, so much interest and what a perky little fellow (or girl).
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you like it, Rhonda. I love the shapes of these little bodies. Very endearing. Thank you for writing.
ReplyDeleteYour little birds are always so sweet! I have never looked at a hummingbird up close like that; what a treat to have a nest so close by.
ReplyDeleteLove those little pops of green too. What a great accent.
This is one of my ABSOLUTE FAVORITES! The little feathered person looks like you can touch it. You have captured the essence of the humming bird.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Libby. I often wondered why the hummingbird built her nest in front of a window, but I'm glad she did. Made for some nice photos!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Ellie! I agree they are exquisite little things. We seem to have quite a few of this kind with the iridescent spots in this area.
ReplyDeletelucky you, they are amazing creatures and this one looks particularily determined...
ReplyDeleteI WAS lucky, Cindy! Hummingbirds have always been "quick-in, quick-out" for me except for this one. :) Thanks for writing!
