"SUNNY AND HOT" 6" X 6" Oil on panel

I saw these small yellow peppers in Safeway the other day and thought I'd try painting them. They have a very smooth surface with few ups and downs to create shadows. The values are all very close in contrast, so I improvised again deepening the hue in some areas. Now, it's into the salad they go!

  3. Really nice. I like the way you leaned the peppers against each other. The colors work great together. I like the lighting and shadows too.

  4. Fun way to make a composition...they are hard to paint but you did a lovely job! Interesting handling of the background as well.

  6. Appreciate your comments, Melanie. I enjoy working in the square format as it often creates different options for composition.

  7. Hi Cindy,
Thank you for taking the time to comment. I have fun with the background because oil paint is very tactile, and I enjoy that part. However, I'm always afraid I'll go a bit too far with the process. :)

  8. I think you are on a roll here, Carol. The peppers look great and do look glossy (from my end). These last couple of fruit paintings really have a vibrancy to them. I bet they look fun together too, lined up.

Thanks for visiting. We got moved on Saturday and today we got hooked up for internet, so I'm happy. And really tired.
