This was enjoyable to paint, but I noticed because of our heat here in Arizona (it's 110 degrees today) the oil paint was drying much faster than normal. I had to hurry to work it before it set up. I may need to go back in and soften some edges on the plate rim later on.
These look so sunny, something we haven't seen here for awhile. You can come and paint in the cool and wet if it will keep your paint moist. I do like the textures in this as well as the sunny color.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Jean. I know you need sun, and we need rain! Wish we could work something out. :)
ReplyDeleteThis is one of my favorite color combos so far. The plate has almost a photographic quality to it. Looks good from my end:)
ReplyDeleteHi Libby,
ReplyDeleteThank you for your nice comments. Orange and turquoise has been one of my favorite color pairings also.
I love how you have bits of blue on the oranges and bits of orange on the blue plate. Really lovely!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Virginia. My wonderful mentor, Jean Ranstrom, taught me the importance of repeating colors throughout the painting. It always has "stuck" with me. So nice of you to write.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful and striking! The oranges have such power and I love the iridescence of the plate . . .
ReplyDeleteLorraine, what nice things to say. I appreciate so much all your encouragement. Your work has greatly inspired me!
ReplyDeleteI so love this color complement pairing. Together each color makes the other sing.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Shirley! That's such a wonderful thing about painting - using the incredible colors that are available. It's often hard to decide what color to make a dish or plate or ?
