"BOREAS PASS, COLORADO" 7" X 12" Pastel

My husband and I try to escape the heat of the southern Sonoran Desert in the summertime, if we can. We've been fortunate to have traveled to the cool, green altitudes of beautiful Colorado a couple of times. My husband liked to bicycle through Boreas Pass near Breckenridge. Gorgeous scenery all around!

  1. Lovely pastel work. I particularly like the marks you made in the sky.

  2. Thank you, Libby. I think that's one of the delights of pastel as a medium. You can vary the texture of a piece by applying strokes in many ways - using the sides of the stick, making long or short strokes, etc. I've even seen work where artists make a series of little circles or curliques, and although it must be time-consuming, it's VERY effective. Thanks for taking the time to write! Carol
